1. Kaeya Alberich
I am what they call a simp. I love this man. I stan this man. This man can do no wrong. He has never done anything wrong in his entire life and I won’t be told otherwise. I’ve adored Kaeya since day 1. My initial draw to him was that he was a main character and POC. Do you know how hard it is to feel represented in media still to this day? Kaeya was that for me in this game. Then I met him and his red flag personality won me over immediately. Ugh. I love him and all of his morally gray choices. And it doesn’t stop there. I’m one of the few Genshin Impact players who will proudly claim Kaeya as one of my mains. It pains me to put him on the bench. I have crowned his skill and burst so far and will be crowning his normal attack after I build up a few others who need attention. I don’t care about your stupid meta.
2. Kaedehara Kazuha
Kazuha was my…. third or fourth 5 star character. But the first one I really tried for and actually got (looking at you, Xiao). I didn’t know at the time he was going to be one of the best characters in the game. I didn’t know he was going to have the sweetest personality or be the fanon accepted Enby icon. I didn’t know if I’d like his kit or his play style at all. So why did I want him so badly? Because Kazuha’s Japanese voice actor is the same voice actor as Haruka Nanase from Free!, arguably my favorite anime of all time. That’s it. That’s why I wanted Kazuha. Lo and behold, he ends up being one of the best characters in Genshin Impact and everyone tells me how lucky I am to have him. Thankfully, I did fall in love with his character and story and his play style is perfect for me. He rarely, if ever, leaves my team.
3. Raiden Shogun
I pulled Raiden after Kazuha. She’s another one I was determined to have, again, not because I knew she’d be one of the best DPS in Genshin Impact, but because she’s purple. By now, I think you can imagine what my favorite color is. So a character with that much purple in her design? I had to have her. Again I lucked out, her play style is a great match for me. She’s also my first character to do over 100k damage, so I’m pretty proud of her.
4. Xiao
Listen. I know what this is about to say about me, but I consider myself a Xiao kinnie. I know, okay? I started playing this game because of him, during his debut banner. I didn’t get him. I still don’t have him. My most recent attempt, I lost 50/50 to Mona. He will be mine one day, but until then, I’ll keep grasping at every story with him I can. I didn’t even know he was emo, okay? I just thought he was a hot anime guy. Him being an emo edge lord just solidified how much I love him. Shout out to my fellow elder emos. You feel me, right? Will I use him when I finally get him? Probably not. I have Kazuha. But he will be home, and that’s what matters.
5. Diluc
Diluc is one that grew on me, actually. I was fairly neutral to him until I started learning more lore and learned his connection to Kaeya. Then it became an obsession with any thing and everything Diluc and Kaeya, Kaeya and Diluc. It has since morphed into yes, okay, I love Diluc as a stand alone entity and all his broody emoness. I also tend to play in Japanese but will occasionally switch to English, and what can I say? His English voice is attractive.
